Young Los Angeles artist Edrina K. Martinez (a.k.a. Astronautica) sent over a cut from her upcoming Replay Last Night album, which Alpha Pup will drop on February 26. “Cruise” sees the 21-year-old producer putting her guitar-playing skills to work, as she allows a handful of muddled strums to drive the slow-grooving tune. Quiet woodblocks and other organic-sounding percussion fill in the relaxed space alongside booming kicks and soft atmospherics. Martinez opts for creating more of a mood than an outright melody on “Cruise,” helping to make it a nice pick for a scenic train ride or aimless stroll around town.
