This spastic bout of sample wizardry arrives from LA beat-scene stalwart Daedelus at the behest of Mixmag before his live appearance in London at Village Underground on April 13. As the tags on this MP3 lead us to believe, “Curtains Don’t Talk” is made up of bits of Janet Jackson (we’re assuming she provides the main vocal here) and the Beach Boys (definitely who the background harmonies are lifted from), and is also labeled as “Lover’s Juke.” It’s a cringe-worthy genre descriptor for sure, but the breakneck tempos and smooth melodies that Daedelus puts together coalesce into something that sounds pretty much like a bit of Chicago footwork tailor made for the bedroom.
