Later this month, Austin-based musician Eliot Lipp will release his 10th studio album, Skywave.
Lipp crafted the EP over the last several months, injecting influences from sci-fi soundtracks and ’70s and ’80s funk into a melting pot of warped, melodic beats. On the album, Lipp looks to recreate key musical moments from from his past in the creation of a complete statement of intent.
In support of the release of the LP—which also features collaborations with Emancipator, Chris Karns, Gibbs and Cherub, and Fish Tank Friends—Lipp has offered up the album’s opening cut as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. Built from loops and layers, the track is a perfect introduction and representation of the album, as Lipp explains:
“I chose this track to begin the album with because it captures my new sound in pure form. The foundation of the song is based in loops and samples but there are layers of synths swirling around as well. There’s more space, deeper tones and more depth overall.”
Skywave is out June 23 on Young Heavy Souls, with “I Told Ya” available via WeTransfer below.
