TreeFNGR‘s debut track, “Fine Fright,” impressed us back in December with its fresh take on moody garage beats. Now, the anonymous British producer returns with a second offering, “Five Ticks.” The new tune is steeped in far crisper production than its predecessor, as the bass and percussion shine at the front of the mix this time, rather than behind a crunchy wall of reverb. However, true to the producer’s Radiohead-referencing name, TreeFNGR keeps “Five Ticks” awash in atmospheric synth work, contextualizing its more dancey tropes in an ambient swamp of gloom.
