Somewhere between Aphex Twin’s more ambling early works and some all-out 8-bit madness lies “Happiness,” a fresh cut from Baltimore producer Adventure‘s forthcoming LP for Carpark. On this particular tune, Adventure laces ceaselessly active, bit-crushed drums with woozy layers of melodic keys and bell-like synths, all while a host of airy pads rise and fall in the background. No time is wasted searching for hooks; instead, the East Coast artist just gives us five-plus minutes of outright sonic geekery—not that we’re complaining. Look for the rest of Adventure’s Weird Work LP when it’s out on April 30.
