Hidden Turn is a reclusive producer originally from Manchester and now based in Brazil. With a modest set of releases to his name—four EPs have been released under Hidden Turn since 2012—it’s easy to see that Hidden Turn favors quality over quantity. The latest release to drop is his debut album, The Ride, which will see Hidden Turn return to Doc Scott‘s label 31 Recordings with 12 tracks described by the label as “kinda dnb, kinda not, but we like it.”
The Ride was released on September 23 and to celebrate, 31 Recordings and Hidden Turn have offered up LP cut “Passing” (feat. SEO) as today’s XLR8R download. Like the rest of the album, it’s hard to classify: with a skeletal framework and a bass-heavy groove, it moves through warped atmospheres and menacing vocals from SEO.
