DJ F (a.k.a. Flavio Tortora) may have landed on one of the world’s least Google-able names, but that plays right into his unpretentious, for-the-heads underground persona. 1974, his forthcoming release, out May 19 via A Harmless Deed, sees the Spanish producer ease into an atmospheric deep house vein that bares a resemblance to the psychedelic textures and out-there aesthetic of East Coast underdogs Joey Anderson and Fred P. Closing out DJ F’s forthcoming release, “Lightyear” is heavily steeped in an ethereal quality, with hypnotic swirls and phasing pads that whoosh above a no-nonsense hi-hat patter serving as the heart of the production.
