“ists” is a sharply focused production from Philly-based artist Matpat, who has steadily built his profile over the past few years, most recently dropping a 12″ via Exploited’s Black Jukebox offshoot. On “ists,” Matpat cycles through different configurations of pulsing organ chords that gently morph and rearrange as they ride atop an endless stream of hats, rounded sub-bass, and subtle percussion FX. The result is a hypnotic dancefloor exercise, one that is said to partially serve as a preview of the loop-orientated constructions Matpat is currently developing for his next Exploited release.
