Earlier this month, Moscow-based piano student Phil Gerus joined the Alpha Pup family with his debut release for Russian imprint Fuselab, the Milk & Honey EP. Gerus, who got his start playing in his family jazz trio, has offered up the title track as a free taste of what the label’s SoundCloud page calls “a vanilla cake made of creamy lo-fi boogie, disco, and funk.” At just over two minutes long, “Milk & Honey” is a brief foray into shimmering riffs and plodding, easygoing funk basslines that speak to a taste for blissed-out psychedelic vibes.
