Over the years, classically trained musician Nicolas Morant (a.k.a. Nikitch) has performed and worked with an impressive list of artists including Andreya Triana, Tambour Battant, Dj Cam, Grems, and Submotion Orchestra, as well as labels such as Soulection, Ninja Tune, and Brownwood Recordings—not to mention garnering praise from legends like Giles Peterson and Laurent Garnier.
His latest EP, All The Best, is made up of seven smooth cuts that fall in line with the beat-driven work of the Soulection crew. It’s an emotive mix that manages to straddle a nice line between soul, pop, and more club-based styles. As an introduction, EP cut “It’s All About Drums” is being offered as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. Like it’s title suggests, the track focuses on drums; in this case, a crisp, rolling breakbeat, with shiny synth work rounding things out.
