Pick A Piper, a collaborative project headed up by Caribou percussionist Brad Weber, released their self titled album via Mint Records in April 2013 to much acclaim. The floaty, polyrhythmic synth pop album will return on April 7 in the form of a remix collection, featuring reworks from artists such as Koloto, Set In Sand, Vessels, Caribou, and the one featured here from London producer Laurent Clerc (a.k.a Little People). The remix package, out via the Abandon Building imprint, is in honor of the late drummer Steve Reid, with all proceeds going to The Steve Reid Foundation. True to form, Clerc applies his hip-hop influenced touch to “South To Polynesia”, completely transforming the track into an altogether brighter affair complete with a half stepping, swinging groove; modulated chords and an array of sparkling synth bleeps. The remix package can be pre-ordered here, with the Little People remix of “South To Polynesia” available for free download below.
