We last heard from Brooklyn-based producer Rioux at the end of last year when his track “Trails” was featured in our Top 100 downloads of 2014. This month, Rioux returns with his latest EP, Evolver, released on May 8 via Connect—the multimedia label founded by Rioux to showcase “visionary musicians and visual artists across disciplines.” Written and produced in Detroit and New York, Evolver is a four-tracker filled with the sort of artistry we’ve come to expect from the visionary artist. EP cut “In Transit” is a multicolored journey through cinematic soundscapes, jazz-like flourishes, and tightly wrapped rhythmic structures, with Rioux’s moody vocals scattered on top.
