If you can look past the producer’s out-there moniker, Emufucka offers some tasty and familiar sounds within this tune. The Tokyo producer born Takafumi Sakurai dropped his Retrace EP this week, and “Ryvius” is a so-called “bonus” track from that record. The music is said to be “inspired by the ultimate fate of the universe and the relations of space and time,” but as heady as that comes off, Sakurai’s production is simply a multi-layered collection of animated beats, purple-ish synths, and sweet-natured melodies. Soon to be a participant of next year’s Red Bull Music Academy, Emufucka’s sound brings to mind productions from the likes of Flying Lotus, Rustie, and Joker, more of which you can hear in the mix of snippets from his Retrace EP, after the jump.
