At its base, “Inside Looking Out” laces a sparse, stumbling kick-and-rim pattern with woozy chord and a few pitched-down vocal samples. From there, .smuv and Repeat Pattern slyly slip in a number of additional elements into the procession; stringed drones, resonant bells, and even the creek of crickets all come in and out of focus across the brief—but no less head-nod worthy—beat’s run.
