Though the disparate and experimental sounds of Brooklyn-based composer Ashley Paul are not something that would typically appear on XLR8R, this remix she just sent over is much more akin to our prescribed tastes. Fellow New Yorker Pete Swanson (pictured above) lends his hand in white-washing the original version of “Soak the Ocean” into a bleary-eyed, ambient piece. “Soak the Ocean (Pete Swanson Remix)” finds the former member of Portland noise duo Yellow Swans exploring new terrain, though his warm blankets of granulated texture carry a similarly deep and brooding affect.
