Time-tested DJ/producer, Rekids label head, and founder of the new Electric Uniform clothing line, Matthew Edwards (a.k.a. Radio Slave) was recently touched by a streak of generosity, one which has led him to offer up a new collaborative production alongside Thomas Gandey as a free download exclusively via XLR8R (he even went so far as to name the song after the site). “I really wanted to create a track for the dancefloor that felt like a John Carpenter movie mixed with the light-cycle scene from the original Tron movie—cinematic, stripped-down, and futuristic,” Edwards told us of the track via e-mail. The resulting 15-minute expedition into razor-sharp techno territory serves as a preview of sorts to Edwards’ and Gandey’s forthcoming debut LP together as Matom, the vinyl version of which is set to land later this month via Planet E. (The CD and digital versions will follow in September.) In the meantime, we’re pleased to have this elongated piece of sci-fi techno to hold us over.
