Ghostly co-founder and multifaceted artist Matthew Dear has unveiled the video for “Her Fantasy,” the lead single from his upcoming album Beams. The clip is certainly a fantasy, but whether it’s “her” fantasy or “his” is not so clear: It’s a circus-themed montage of suggestive and warped shots of men and women that director Tommy O’Haver calls a “mash-up” homage to experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger. The hallmarks of an Anger masterpiece are there—the aura of occult magic, surrealism, strange hints of erotica, etc.—which also makes the video look something like a polished Beats Antique performance starring Matthew Dear. Beams drops next month via Ghostly on August 27.
