Released in June via Kompakt, Maceo Plex‘s “Conjure Superstar” was intended in part to question the hype cycle of superstar DJ culture, and to ask what becomes of one’s musical integrity as they ascend the ranks. Now, the US-born, Barcelona-based producer has revealed a new video for the track that similarly reflects upon the underbelly of electronic music’s party culture. With some explicit drug use, and brief bits of nudity and violence included throughout, the clip follows the pursuits of an iPhone thief, a hack DJ, and a few other partygoers as they make their way through a raucous evening.
