Nestled between the likes of Machinedrum, Omar-S, Dorian Concept, Martyn, and Todd Edwards in the line-up for the upcoming seventh annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (a.k.a. BEMF) is Alessandro Cortini, an Italian modular expert who has turned in the latest mix for the festival’s ongoing series.
A member of Nine Inch Nails’ live band, Cortini’s set of live electronics caught our ear at this year’s Decibel Festival (our review of which can be found here), and as such, we were curious to see just what the synth specialist would turn in when it came to a proper mix. As it turns out, Cortini’s hour-long session for BEMF incorporates much of the immersive, often celestial, tones which have marked his own work, incorporating wide-reaching ambient selections from the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Lawrence English, M. Geddes Gengras, and even Aphex Twin.
Alessandro Cortini’s full BEMF mix can be streamed below, while the 2014 edition of the festival is set to begin tomorrow night; more info can be found here.
