Kode9 Readies Debut Album on Hyperdub
Steve Goodman has a full-length on the way for his own highly respected UK label.
Kode9 (a.k.a. Steve Goodman) will deliver his debut solo album, Nothing, via his own Hyperdub label this coming November. According to a press release, the LP “throws horror soundtracks, sampled library records, and J-pop into a no-man’s land between grime, early dubstep, and Chicago footwork.” And, as Resident Advisor notes, the influence of the late Stephen Samuel Gordon (a.k.a. The Spaceape) is evident throughout. Kode9 released two collaborative albums with Gordon before his passing in 2014, which is memorialized by nine minutes of silence on closing track “Nothing Lasts Forever.”
Nothing is set to arrive on November 5, and its artwork and tracklist have been included below. To read XLR8R‘s cover story on Goodman and Gordon’s work together, head here.
