WeTransfer, one of the world’s leaders in online file sharing, announced last week that the company plans to provide a music-streaming solution as another distribution option to music creators around the world. One of the intriguing characteristics of WeTransfer’s new streaming service is that it provides creative artists the opportunity to focus their promotional campaign towards WeTransfer‘s massive online audience.

Video artists and music producers are already very active on WeTransfer.com, using the service to share their work and collaborate on projects with other creators, with users sharing files up to 10 gigabytes. Instead of making revenue by selling banner ads, WeTransfer promotes artists by using a backdrop of curated wallpapers that are provided by a wide community of artists, illustrators, brands, music makers, photographers and events.

WeTransfer unveiled a demo of the new streaming service at SMASHD Labs Demo Day in LA last week, stating that the company:

has evolved to become a powerful distribution channel for music creators. With customizable wallpapers that can feature artist images or album covers, the new streaming service provides a high-end music-sharing experience to truly promote content to a global group of more than 85 million creative tastemakers and influencers per month.”

XLR8R will continue to bring more information on WeTransfer and its streaming services as it becomes available to us.
