DJ/producer Stuart Li (a.k.a. Basic Soul Unit) is readying his debut LP to be released next month via Chicago house label Still Music. The Toronto-based artist is said to have paid his respects to Detroit and Chicago club music on the 11-track Motional Response, producing a record of deep house and techno with an analog approach. No stranger to the Midwestern sound, Basic Soul Unit has quite a back catalog of singles and 12″s released through various Canadian imprints, including his recent split EP with Eddie Niguel. Still Music boss Jermone Derradji offers a remix of “Breathe” to round out the collection of previously unreleased material, the artwork and tracklist of which you can check out before it drops in December.
