Over the past couple months, Tin Man (a.k.a. Johannes Auvinen) has been a regular feature on XLR8R‘s pages. The Vienna-based producer headed off the release of his recent Ode LP for Absurd sub-label Acid Test by walking us through some of his favorite acid tracks for our Hi-Five series, and now, he’s put together the latest podcast for Resident Advisor. Running just under 70 minutes, Auvinen describes the session as “a mix of other mixes” made while Ode was still a work in progress, with track selections pointing to the album’s musical influences. In the accompanying Q&A, he also offers some insight into the ideas behind Ode (as the final installment of a conceptual trilogy based off the fallout from the recent financial crisis), and touches on the expressive capacities of both the Roland TB-303 and other technologies.
