Ahead of its release next week, xxxy (a.k.a. Rupert Taylor) has shared a full stream of the first of two “cybotron futureproof rave burners” included on his “Goldfish” b/w “Evade” 12″ for Ten Thousand Yen. On “Goldfish,” the UK artist sheds some of his noted pop sensibilities, instead shifting his aims towards darkened dancefloor sonics, utilizing rattling snares and a series of brooding synth sounds seemingly culled from the deepest regions of space. The resulting four-plus-minute production is a sharp-edged club affair, which will come backed by a similarly energetic b-side when xxxy’s “Goldfish” b/w “Evade” sees the producer return to Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen label on August 4. In the meantime, the record’s a-side cut is streaming in full below.
