John Roberts Announces Launch of New Label
The New York City producer's Brunette Editions imprint will serve as a platform for both music and printed material.
American producer and longstanding Dial affiliate John Roberts has revealed plans to launch his own record label, Brunette Editions. As Roberts tells Inverted Audio (and Resident Advisor reports), the imprint will serve as “an abstract outlet for music, printed matter, recordings, and books,” a seemingly natural extension of Roberts’ own musical output and work as editor of The Travel Almanac. “The concept of the label is completely freeform,” Roberts says. “I don’t have a strict policy with anything. If something unique comes along, no matter what medium, I would be open to releasing it as long as I have a personal connection with the individual who produced it and it made sense to me within the general aesthetic of the project.”
Roberts himself will inaugurate the label with a solo record, to be followed by a “multi-media edition” later this year. A launch party is scheduled for Friday, April 10 at Stattbad in Berlin, for which Roberts will appear alongside Isolee and Pawel.
