Kelly Moran Pays Tribute to Japanese Figure-Skater Yuzuru Hanyu on New Warp EP
'Origin' EP arrives via Warp on May 17.
Kelly Moran has announced her latest EP, Origin, out May 17 on Warp Records.
The EP’s name is a tribute to the drive, determination, and perseverance of Yuzuru Hanyu, the figure-skater from Japan whom Moran considers one of her idols.
Musically, it features a handful of demos and unreleased music from the writing sessions that formed her Ultraviolet LP, while serving as both a “companion piece” to her Warp debut and “an alternate view of its world.”
We’re told to expect seven songs of largely acoustic recordings featuring Moran at her home piano and recorded in one take. “These recordings show first hand my musical discoveries in real-time for when I was having my major creative breakthrough,” says Moran.
