German glitch pioneer Markus Popp kept his Oval moniker silent for almost a decade before releasing the massive O collection in 2010, after which he sort of just let his material land where it may—dropping EPs, split releases, and “multimedia albums” through a variety of outlets. Now, he’s taken to the internet to release 16 brand-new tracks for absolutely free. The digital LP is called Calidostópia!, and finds the veteran artist working with a handful of musicians and vocalists (you know, like in our The Art of Collaboration feature from yesterday), all of who hail from South America. According to a press release, “Calidostópia! is the result of a 10-day, blind-date-esque studio session in Salavdor De Bahia, Brazil,” and was “made possible through the generous support of the Goethe Institute (Bogotá, Caracas, Cordoba, Montevideo, Salvador und São Paulo branches), as well as the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia.” You can download Popp’s latest project for absolutely no cost, here, and stream a preview of the music below.
