Philippe Hallais (a.k.a. Low Jack) will return to Modern Love with his first album under his own given name, An American Hero.
Following Lighthouse Stories, his 2016 label debut as Low Jack, An American Hero is inspired by the sports documentaries mass-produced by US TV channel ESPN and the stories transcribed and amplified by their dramatic recounts. Divided into four sides and eleven tracks, the album will supposedly play out like a Greek tragedy, following the general narrative arc of the aforementioned documentaries: the rise to the top, the betrayal, decline, salvation, come back, and posterity.
Alongside the music, the project will also involve a multi-media website, created by the design studio CCC, that houses 11 short films (one for each track) created by French artist and director Ethan Assouline—you can check out a gallery of screen grabs from the films below.
An American Hero drops on June 9.
