With well over twenty aliases, Felix Stallings (aka Felix Da Housecat) has breathed new life into his iconic ’90s pseudonym, Aphrohead, by releasing his latest and aptly named full length LP, Reserection, this past September via Crosstown Rebels. You can stream the entire album by going here.
One of the standout tracks of this release, “Grown Man Cryy,” is a classic, bare boned, and pulsating ode to Detroit with emotional overtones and a tasty, repetitive groove. The track is set to see a single release on October 30 that includes a ‘Brainy Grimlin’ rework from the venerable Carl Craig. Both the original track and Craig’s rework serve as gestures towards their earlier work, which has helped techno and house music alike flourish and blossom into their many various form today.
