Promoter Teams Up With Synth Company For Unique Event in Pittsburgh
The hybrid outing will feature educational opportunities open to the public as well as performances.
Lateral, a Pittsburgh-based event promoter, has announced a collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers to offer a unique live experience this Saturday, July 30 that includes performances, a workshop, and an open synth area for public use.
Ultimately, the aim of the free introductory courses and open synth area is to break exclusionary barriers, creating a welcoming environment for inexperienced musicians interested in modular synthesizers.
The live demonstrations and learning experiences will culminate in two performances, one from L.I.E.S-affiliated Antenes, and the other from Pittsburgh DJ Paul Fleetwood. In her endeavors as Antenes, Lori Napoleon creates captivating, experimental techno with an impressive collection synthesizers that she crafts by hand from telephone parts, switchboards, and more. Since emigrating from his native Pittsburgh, Paul Fleetwood has co-founded the Humanaut promotion company and the popular Hot Mass party, as well as hosted an acclaimed electronic music radio show entitled “Ultrawizardsworld.”
$10 tickets can be purchased at the event after the open workshops close. Head to the event page here for more information.
