Word has come that Barron Machat, of LA-based label Hippos in Tanks, has died at the age of 27. As reported by Resident Advisor this morning, Machat served as founder and operating CEO of the imprint, which has released leftfield electronic, pop, and R&B from the likes of Autre Ne Veut, Nguzunguzu, Laurel Halo, Hype Williams and Dean Blunt, James Ferraro, and more. News began circulating via tweets from Machat’s colleagues, Tri Angle head Robin Carolan and Oneohtrix Point Never, although no cause of death has been shared as of yet.
