The late, illustrious music icon Frankie Knuckles is one of the many reasons why Chicago is hailed as one of the house music capitals of the world. With this legend’s passing in March of 2014, the non-profit organization The Frankie Knuckles Foundation was established, the aim of which is “dedicated to the advancement of Frankie Knuckles’ mission as the global ambassador of house music through media, conservation and public events continuing and supporting the causes he advocated.”
Having had an extremely close and long term relationship with Smartbar, one of Chicago’s most prized venues, it seems wholly appropriate that The Frankie Knuckles Foundation, Metro, and Smartbar have teamed up to present a night of music that is dedicated to this worthy cause. The event, which is set to take place on January 17, will see performances from David Morales, Louie Vega, Terry Hunter, Derrick Carter, Rochelle Fleming, Adeva, Michael Serafini and Garrett David.
