Stream Marlon Hoffstadt’s Trippy Synth Track “Coach Mike”
'Coach Mike' will land on Retrograde on July 29.
Berlin-based Marlon Hoffstadt‘s Retrograde imprint—formed alongside Natureboy Gold and Matteo Luis in August 2015—will release his latest EP, Coach Mike, on July 29.
The four-track EP will be the sophomore release from Hoffstadt on Retrograde, which provides a platform for artists to explore music alongside other forms of art, such as surrealism. Hoffstadt’s sound is an innovative blend of synth-led grooves and rolling percussion, with this particular EP being inspired by a particular soft synth, as Hoffstadt explains:
“The TAL Baseline 101 was my biggest inspiration. At that time, I was totally amazed by productions that are based on rhythms only, and after I discovered this synthesizer, I tried to produce something that functions because of the groove and works completely without any vocals. This little VST with its nice sound library and super easy to use sequencer was the best tool I could use for tracks like this. Since then, I’m always looking for new synthesizers, sequencers, or drum machines that give me the opportunity to discover different and new ways of producing music, no matter if digital or analog.”
Coach Mike will be released via Retrograde on July 29, with its title track streaming in full via the player above.
