The Swedish duo behind one of the most brilliant records released this year, The Knife has released a lengthy list of upcoming European tour dates in support of its brand-new Shaking the Habitual album, announcing along with it some fairly absurd and unusual details of what to expect. The spring/summer tour will begin on April 26 in Bremen, Germany, and continue sporadically throughout the beginning of September. Opening these shows will be a man named Tarek Halaby, a so-called “master-teacher-guru-shaman-dictator-aerobics instructor-new age workshop leader” who will be instructing a workout form called “Deep Aerobics,” which is apparently “a workout form invented and shamelessly disseminated by Miguel Gutierrez.” Other acts set to accompany The Knife on its upcoming tour include Cool Pans (“the biggest steel band in Scandinavia”) and something called “Danceoke” with Öfa-Kollektivet, “an artist collective and feminist support group through which several performances, workshops, exhibitions, and club-performances have been created.” A lengthy blog post explaining all of the information and details of the opening acts and The Knife’s performances itself—”We will be there, on stage, all seven of us, sometimes all 10 of us, or even more.”—can be found here, and though many of the dates are currently sold out, remaining tickets can be purchased here.
