Growing up in rural Indiana on a healthy diet of corn and Richie Hawtin, it was only a matter of time before Troy Pierce would move to New York, and eventually Berlin, to craft some of the most interesting techno releases of the past few years. Now, countless twelves and remixes into his career, Pierce is unveiling his most recent (and darkest) minimal achievement yet, Gone Astray (Minus).

The double-vinyl/CD release features some of Pierce’s most abstract work (which says a lot given his collaborations with Magda and Marc Houle). Comprised of compositions written primarily on the road, Astray is filled with shards of metallic snares and delayed bleeps, bloops, and bumps. In addition to sparse atmospherics, there are also incredible after-hours remixes from the likes of Canada’s maniacal minimalist Konrad Black and Pierce’s collaborative project with Gibby Miller, Louderbach.

In other Minus news, the label is also turning out long-players from the likes of Matthew Dear as False and Ambivalent, not to mention singles from Skoozbot and Thrill Cosby. 2007 just reached its techno harvest.
