The self-titled, debut EP by Darkside, Nicolas Jaar’s much-ballyhooed side project with guitarist Dave Harrington, has been out for about half a year now, but its lead cut, “A1,” is just now getting the music video treatment. Looking something like a mix between Planet Earth‘s “Deserts” episode, hot new video game Journey, and, like, Lawrence of Arabia, or something, this piece—directed by in-house Clown & Sunset filmmaker Ryan Staake—is a finely crafted visual representation of the expansive soundscapes and brooding riffs offered by Jaar’s and Harrington’s tune.
