Kid Smpl, the Seattle-based beatmaker whose low-end-heavy and atmospheric “Escape Pod” made it onto our Top 20 Downloads of July list, has unveiled a disorientingly psychedelic video for his tune “Pulse.” The clip, which was directed by Altrac Productions‘ Ben Anderson, deviates from the format of many electronic music videos by constructing abstract beauty from natural imagery rather than computer-generated geometric patterns or dystopian cityscape visuals. Anderson makes ample use of mirroring effects to create endless amounts of trippy arrangements that, by the end of the clip, look so surreal that it’s hard to tell whether or not you’re looking at the same landscapes from the video’s beginning.
