As XLR8R gets back into the swing of things for 2013, we’re catching up on a few items that appeared over the holidays. On Christmas day, Bristol production duo Velour
(a.k.a. Julio Bashmore and Hyetal) released a nostalgic, racecar-themed video for its brand-new tune “Speedway.” Videographer Matt Cronin pulled together some dramatic, decades-old NASCAR footage to match the song’s fast-paced, ’80s-tinged dancefloor vibes. “Speedway” breaks two years of silence since the duo’s 2010 EP for Night Slugs, The Velvet Collection, and while we don’t know the specifics regarding the release of “Speedway,” it seems entirely possible that Bashmore may drop the tune through his Broadwalk label in the near future.
