Yesterday, card-carrying Brainfeeder member Matthewdavid released his four-track EP, International, a little somethin’-somethin’ to tide people over until his Brainfeeder debut full-length, Outmind, comes out mid-April. Although it’s in line with the analog spirit of Matthewdavid’s cassette-obsessed aesthetic the VHS-inspired music video for the EP’s title track is somewhat less inviting than Matthewdavid’s usual analog love affair. The clip features an aviator-sunglasses-adorned man who may or may not be superimposed over home videos of ’50s-era children—a dark pastiche that puts a new spin on Matthewdavid’s tender nostalgia.
