Wolfgang Voigt Preps Ambient LP for Kompakt
The Cologne label co-founder's latest entry into the 'Rückveruauberung' series marks the opening of a new German national park.
Ever-active Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt has detailed the tenth installment in his Rückveruauberung series of open-concept albums. Entitled Nationalpark, the hour-long recording aligns with the opening of German national park Hunsrück-Hochwald and is described as “an abstract, ambient-infused sound installation, which can be experienced as a kind of ‘acoustic hike through the forest’ thanks to a series of loudspeakers allocated in a natural environment.”
Voigt reportedly processed improvised string and wind instrumentals digitally to make the album, which will see an official release on May 25. Until then, both its artwork and tracklist can be viewed below, and clips are available for preview here via Kompakt’s website.
