Jam City Readies New 12″

Anticipation continues to run high for the debut full-length from London producer Jam City, which has been expected to drop via the Night Slugs label for some time. As it turns out, the waiting period is going to be extended just a bit longer, with the album’s release currently slated for May. Nevertheless, Jam City isn’t leaving his fans completely empty handed in the meantime, as he’ll be dropping a new 12″ on February 27. Entitled “The Courts,” if the preview video (posted below, along with the single artwork) is any indication, the two-song 12″ appears to find the young producer continuing to build unique sonic creations that somehow mesh together elements of grime, house, ballroom, ’80s electro, hip-hop, R&B, and other sounds too unusual to be neatly classified. The record’s b-side, “The Night Life,” is a collaboration with leftfield rap duo Main Attrakionz.

UNO Launches New Edits Imprint, Drops LOL Boys Record

NYC record label UNO is embarking a new venture called No Relation, an “edit imprint for hand-stamped white-label bootlegs.” First up on the brand’s docket is LOL Boys‘ “Moments in Heartbreak,” which first appeared on Nguzunguzu‘s XLR8R podcast from July of last year, and can be streamed after the jump. The single, which cleverly combines Art Noise’s classic “Moments in Love” with T2’s bassline anthem “Heartbroken,” is backed with LOL Boys’ “Grown & Sexy” mix of the track, and is out now with free shipping until February 22. No Relation is currently prepping edits from Nguzunguzu and DJ Rashad for future release.

Trikk “Envisages”

Recent London-by-way-of-Portugal transplant Trikk has been tapped by
UK garage mastermind George FitzGerald to deliver the latest 12″ on his fledgling ManMakeMusic imprint. “Envisages” does not make an appearance on the forthcoming single, but still stands as an excellent introduction to Trikk’s production style, which is highlighted by infectious rhythms, dark synths, and running basslines—all coming together here for a slick piece of futursitc dancefloor heat. After giving “Envisages” a spin, you can peep the artwork and preview clips for the upcoming “Jointly” b/w “Fall Down” single, which drops on March 19, after the jump.

Black Strobe Plans Multiple Releases

Following a few years of dormancy, influential electro outfit Black Strobe, helmed by French DJ Arnaud Rebotini (who formerly teamed with the now-departed Ivan Smagghe), is preparing to release a brand-new full-length later in 2012. The group will first go into a well-deserved career-retrospective mode, prepping a greatest hits album and a re-release of 2003’s electro-disco club hit, “Italian Fireflies.” The track will be packaged with several new remixes from Hey Today, Yan Wagner, and more, and will drop on March 5 via Rebotini’s own Black Strobe Recordings imprint. The single artwork and tracklist are below, along with a snippet of “Italian Fireflies (Arnaud Rebotini Rave Detroit Remix).”

Get People “Macaw (Raffertie Remix)”

We know Raffertie (pictured above) best for his restless and bassy remixes and productions, but the UK producer has taken an unexpected left turn with this subdued remix of Get People‘s “Macaw.” Raffertie tones down the vocal-led deep-house track, transforming it into a extended ambient soundscape of synth pads and bells. At times, the remix hints at Raffertie’s jittery output with a synth or hi-hat flutter, but the most agitated tones come from a subtle kick, which keeps the track pulsing under a wash of big, dramatic chords.

Untold to Release New Single

Hemlock label boss Untold (a.k.a. Jack Dunning) slowed his output in 2011 after several years of unbridled prolificacy, but the British producer is now looking to leave his mark on 2012. Dunning will be dropping a trilogy of EPs on Hemlock called Change in a Dynamic Environment, the first chapter of which hits on April 9. You can stream a preview of that loud and crunchy 12″ below. The Host “Summer Solstice at Cape Canaveral (Alternative Mix)”

Coming soon via Planet Mu, The Host is the 12-track, debut LP (artwork above) by producer Barry Lynn’s new alias, The Host. This warm, understated cut is a slight departure from the music Lynn creates as Boxcutter; under this new guise, he seems a bit more interested in airy soundscapes and experimental beat work than warping samples of ’80s funk. Check out this “Alternative Mix” of “Summer Solstice at Cape Canaveral,” and then check out snippets of The Host before it drops on March 20, here.
