Jardin Au Fou is a welcoming reissue from Kraut legend Hans-Joachim Roedelius, better known as one-half of Cluster. Originally released in 1979, Roedelius’ outing away from songwriting partner Dieter Moebius gave him plenty of space and creativity to further his explorations into the experimental domain, and most importantly, his beautiful piano-based compositions that give the album a startling allure and distinctive tonality. “Café Central” and “Etoiles” emit the familiar cosmic synth work and sci-fi ambience of his Cluster project, with some analogs and lush female vocals injected into the mix. “Ubers Feld” is a personal favorite, a heavenly concoction of keys, horns, and electronic percussion, which no doubt breathed life into the impending techno field.
