It can be a challenge to infuse freshness into enduring and beloved forms of music like reggae and dub. Enter Berlin DJ/producer Eva Bernhard, who tries her skillful hand at doing just that with Moving Without Traveling, elevating the forms into the futuristic now and meshing tech sounds and warm irie vibes. “No Memory of Time” is closest to old-school rasta, with its warm, soothing feel beneath Joe Dukie’s beautifully crooned pleas. “Speakeasy” is a good example of the German tech sound sprinkled throughout the album with brooding and dirty sub-bass coiled by RQM’s deft lyrical flow. Space-age dub with hints of organic warmth–always a trip worth taking.
