Throughout the week, a whole lot of material gets posted here on XLR8R. And while we know—and love—that some hardcore readers will eagerly pour over every single news story, interview, podcast, video, and MP3 download that appears on the site, we also realize that for most people, it’s impossible to see everything, which means that some quality XLR8R content is likely to get missed in the hustle and bustle of everyone’s daily lives. In the interest of making it easier for everyone to catch up, every Friday we present The Lowdown, a weekly wrap-up of the top 10 tidbits from our site.
1. UK vocal talent Lea Lea was remixed by Japanese dubstep veteran Goth-Trad (pictured above), and XLR8R was lucky enough to give away the result as a free download.
2. Ahead of his forthcoming LP for Ajunabeats, DC producer Andrew Bayer gave away a free download of the Sufjan Stevens-sampling “It’s Going to Be Fine.”
3. Toronto producer Nautiluss put together an exclusive mix for this week’s XLR8R podcast. He’s also performing tonight at the XLR8R-sponsored Icee Hot SXSW showcase.
4. Speaking of SXSW, on Monday we ran this list of 10 Parties Not to Be Missed amongst all of this week’s mayhem in Austin.
5. Flying Lotus announced his latest run of North American tour dates. He’ll be on the road for most of April and May.
6. Nicolas Jaar will be remixing both Grizzly Bear and Brian Eno for a special 12″ that will be released next month as part of the annual Record Store Day festivities.
7. Signal Life label boss Teeth passed along his “Remix VIP” of Zebra Katz’s “Sex Sellz” as a free download.
8. We sat down with drum & bass legend Goldie for the latest installment of Rewind, and asked the iconic figure to tell us about some of his most important releases.
9. The ever-innovative Squarepusher announced a remix contest and also debuted Endless Flamethrower, a new podcast of old material.
10. Shadowy producer oOoOO posted a stream of a new track online; not surprisingly, it got people excited.
