Last week, XLR8R dove headlong into the whirlwind of activity surrounding Austin’s annual SXSW festivities. Apart from all the parties, concerts, eating, and drinking, we also got involved in a couple of showcases of our own. The first took place on Thursday, March 15 at the Speakeasy Kabaret, where we teamed up with the Mixpak and Tormenta Tropical crews for a night of forward-thinking Latin, tropical, and dancehall rhythms, courtesy of Dre Skull, Dubbel Dutch, Brenmar, Toddla T, Jubilee, Oro11, and own our editor, Shawn Reynaldo (who, it should be said, also happens to be the co-founder of Tormenta Tropical). And for those who weren’t lucky enough to be in attendance, we snapped a few photos in hopes of sharing a little taste of what went down.
