Fresh off the release of his latest EP on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ label Nice Age, established NYC producer MANIK has turned his hand to Janet Jackson’s 1986 hit song “What Have You Done For Me Lately.” The “JJ01” edit drops just in time for summer, with MANIK planning on releasing three more over the next few months. “JJ01” has all the summer hallmarks: a steady beat rides underneath disco-tinged vocal chops, a chunky bassline, and slicing percussion. Currently residing in LA, MANIK is set to release music on BPitch Control and Black Butter this year, along with the debut of a new side project alongside good friend Option4. “JJ01” is available for free below, with three more summer edits arriving soon.
