Earlier this month, Lanzarote producer Adrian Rodd released his Waves EP via German label Cochlea Music.

Like its title suggests, the five-track EP looks to the ocean and, more importantly, waves for its inspiration. The opening track, “Equilibrium,” was originally conceived as a score to Rodd’s short film about surfer Andy Criere. With the dubby cut as a launching point, the EP flows through deep techno (“Night In Gran Via”), post-dubstep (“Verbena”), and neon-lit house (“Taboo 3AM”) with score-like precision.

In support of the EP, Rodd has offered up “Waves,” an engrossing sonic exploration full of tender synth flourishes and imposing low-end frequencies, as today’s XLR8R download.
