Hailing from Brooklyn, the DJ-producer and co-founder of NYC’s Safer at Night music label Alex Seamens (a.k.a Cranks) has today released his three-track EP Intermodal. Getting his start as a hip-hop DJ in Virginia, Seamens met his fellow label co-founder Luca Venezia (a.k.a Curses) in 2009 and together, Cranks, Curses!, and Lawrence Lee connected on their love for dark-hued four-to-the-floor material that eventually came to define the Safer at Night sound. With an innate knack for driving techno, Cranks has made himself known for his ability to keep crowds moving well until the onset of dawn in cities such as NYC, Berlin, and Budapest.

To help celebrate the release of this wicked and staunch EP, Cranks has offered up the track “Semantic Memory” as today’s XLR8R download. Centered by a repetitive, unshakable backbone, the track’s “analog jabs and excited drums create a dance inducing loophole into techno freedom.”
