Both originally from the Italian city of Turin, Max Casacci and Daniele Mana (a.k.a Vaghe Stelle) have come together to produce an eight-track album titled Glasstress—released via Bad Panda Records. Casacci is most well known as a composer and founder of the Italian rock band Subsonica, while Mana, a graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy, has released music on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People imprint and a slew of other impressive labels under his Vaghe Stelle moniker.

The album consists solely of audio samples gathered in the environment of a glass furnace in Murano near Venice, a colorful island that has been the home of expert glass makers for centuries. No electronic or acoustic drums were added to the album and all the rhythmic elements throughout the LP were formed exclusively by audio recordings of a glass furnace that burns up to 3000 degrees celsius and the various tools that go along with handling this archaic, delicate, and immensely powerful machinery.

Both Mana and Casacci have graciously offered up the title track of their latest album as today’s XLR8R download. You can purchase the full album by going here.
