Vancouver-based Hybridity, which recently launched a record label after years of putting on all sorts of art, music, and cultural events, has shared this track with us, a song originally crafted by fellow British Colombian outfit Humans. A few weeks back, the young imprint passed along a Max Ulis remix of Humans’ “De Ciel,” and this rework comes from yet another Canadian, Toronto-based and Hemlock Recordings-affiliated producer Nautiluss (pictured above). Swapping out the live drums of the vocal-heavy original for a steady four-on-the-floor, Nautliuss warps, delays, and filters Humans vocalist Robbie Slade’s words to a point where the indie-leaning vibe of the source material is almost entirely removed. The original version of “Horizon” appears on Hybridity’s debut release, Traps, which was released earlier this month.
